Welcome to the website of Crossroads Care Uttlesford,
Essex, United Kingdom.

Crossroads Care Uttlesford exists to relieve the stress of carers, of all ages, who have a caring commitment to a relative, neighbour or friend.

Throughout this site the term 'carer' means someone who looks after a partner, relative or friend who needs support because of their sickness, age or disability. The support they give is unpaid. They may need support to gain an education, to remain in employment, or because they have a full-time, long term caring role.

3 out of 5 people will become a carer at some time in their lives.

This website will help you to find out more about our home-based respite service for carers in the Uttlesford district and should help you to make an informed choice regarding your care needs. There is information about volunteering opportunities and ways to donate.

We provide fully trained care support workers to enable the carer to take a much needed break from their caring role during the day or night, seven days a week. This provides respite for carers, and allows them time to be themselves. It helps to ensure that the person being cared-for can remain in their home for longer, and avoid the need for admission to hospital or other caring institution. This in turn helps to relieve the pressure on hospital beds.

Our care support workers take over the responsibilities of the carer for a short while, and often develop a friendship with the 'cared-for’ and their family.

We are a member scheme of the National Crossroads Care Association, registered charity no. 1090844.
